Tour De Yorkshire at Wrelton
To celebrate the first Tour De Yorkshire, which passed through Wrelton village, very close to Wayside Lakes, we decided to promote the event with our very own ‘Flying Bicycles’!
We were helped out in the process by our friends at Mann Creative, Steven and Sharron Mann. Our good friend Paul Sawdon helped to erect the bikes for us, with the help of Trevor and Chris from Wayside. They were soon ‘flying high’, so they could be seen by cyclists and spectators at Cropton Lane. There was a very good turnout to support the cyclists in the village, as there was in all villages and towns en route. As with the Grand Départ last year, this event has been a major success for Yorkshire.
The winner of the event was Lars-Petter Nordhaug of Norway, riding for Team Sky. Hopefully this event will pass our way again in the not too distance future, as all of us here at Wayside can’t wait.
