Wayside Park & Lakes is fantastically positioned to make the most of everything Yorkshire has to offer; between them the nearby towns of Pickering, Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley have a wide range of independent shops to fulfil all requirements. Each town holds a fantastic market day, brimming with local produce, on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday respectively.
Yorkshire has a very strong network of farm shops across the county, both local outlets, Cedar Barn and Beadlam Grange stock their own meat and farm produce as well as products from other regional suppliers. They both also have cafes for a perfect Yorkshire Tea after you’ve finished shopping. A little further afield is the farm shop at Castle Howard, which with its incredible surroundings is also worth visiting.
It’s only a short walk to our local pub, the Buck Inn at Wrelton and in nearby Pickering both the White Swan Inn and Cappelmans, a superb fish and chip shop which receives great reviews. We’re also only a couple of minutes away from the Cropton Brewery – their beers are fantastic! We are fortunate that Yorkshire boasts a culture rich in food and drink and Mark’s own personal restaurant favourites are The Fox and Hounds, Sinnington and The Blacksmith’s Arms, Lastingham. Should you fancy a Michelin starred treat, the Black Swan at Oldstead, is Yorkshire personified and full of charm.
